A favicon (favorites icon) is a finishing touch to your website or blog. The icon is displayed in the browser address bar & next to your website in a list of bookmarks. You can create an icon for your blog or website on several websites, I use the website FavIcon from Pics.

Simply create a square image in a design program. This could be part of your logo, initials of your website or any other element that relates to your website.

Note that you will need FTP access to your server and some basic HTML knowledge, as you will need to add a bit of code. Upload your image to the website, follow the steps and you will have a great looking favicon to upload to your site.

At the moment I have three web browsers on my laptop. I have been an avid FireFox user for about 3 years but recently I decided to start using the Google web browser Chrome. Chrome is everything Google says it is: fast, slick and easy to use. I like that when you open a new tab Chrome can show an overview of most visited or recent closed websites.

The only problem that remains is that certain websites don’t fully work in either FireFox or Chrome. Mostly for me these seem to be websites that have booking systems for travel or tickets. So keep Internet Explorer on your pc for those moments when you need it but otherwise make the change and start using a web browser that understands the user’s needs.
